When I reflect on all the happiness pets have brought me throughout the years, my heart just breaks for pets in shelter and rescue organizations. There are just too many pets in need. Fortunately, these businesses are creating positive social change by looking out for cats, dogs, and other pets in need. What a worthy cause!

Greater Good

Having given over $45 M to charities, Greater Good is creating positive social change in a major way. Their devotion to bettering the lives of rescued animals is unquestionable. For each item purchased on their Animal Rescue site, 3% to 50% – yes, up to 50%! – of the retail price is granted to charity partners to provide food and care for the tens of thousands of animals rescued by shelters each year. The Animal Rescue site is stocked with over 400 products ranging from flip-flops adorned with paw prints to the “pawsitively beautiful” handbags, towels, charms, jewelry, and accessories. My personal favorites are the mugs and paw-print ice cube trays, which make great summer-time gifts for pet lovers.

Their many charity partners include Rescue Bank, The Fund for Animals and Humane Society of the U.S., and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAN).
